Reason Why It Matters The Benefit
Used Every Day Unlike a vase or picture frame, a cutting board is a daily kitchen essential. Your gift stays visible — not forgotten in a drawer.
Personalized Keepsake Laser engraving transforms a board into a one-of-a-kind memento with names, dates, or initials. Every meal is a quiet celebration of their wedding day.
Gets More Beautiful Over Time Cherry wood naturally deepens in color with age, developing a richer patina year after year. The board is even more stunning on their 10th anniversary.
Registry-Proof Thoughtfulness Standing out among blenders and bedding sets is hard. A handmade engraved board signals genuine thought — few couples register for one.
Natural Antibacterial Properties Wood is genuinely hygienic and gentle on knife edges. Knives stay sharp longer vs. glass or plastic boards.
Heirloom Quality Milled up to 2 inches thick from locally sourced domestic hardwood. Built to withstand decades of daily use — and be passed down.

Watch Our Cutting Board Building Process

Every Board Is Handmade to Order

Built by our team at Mahogany House Woodworks in Idaho — not stamped out by machines overseas. Every board goes through eight hands-on steps before it ships.

Step 1. Choose Your Board

Select wood, size, and any add-ons. Every board is a made-to-order piece, not pulled from warehouse stock.

Step 2. Hand-Select Lumber

We source domestically and hand-pick each piece for the right grain, density, and color. Only the best make the cut.

Step 3. Mill & Assemble

Planed to exact thickness, strips arranged for structural integrity and visual balance, then glued under controlled pressure.

Step 4. Detailed Sanding

Every surface is progressively sanded to eliminate tool marks and create a finish that feels silky to the touch.

Step 5. Laser Engraving

If ordered, engraving is done with precision and reviewed before the laser fires. The board is lightly re-sanded afterward for crisp detail.

Step 6. Condition & Seal

Conditioned multiple times with food-safe mineral oil to protect the wood from the inside out. No shortcuts.

Step 7. Final Inspection

Every board receives a hands-on human inspection before packaging. If it doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t ship.

Step 8. Package & Ship

Carefully wrapped and shipped free via UPS or FedEx to all 48 contiguous US states. Arrives ready to gift.

Handmade in the USA for Over 20 Years

We’re Mahogany House Woodworks, a small family workshop near Boise, Idaho. Every board that leaves our shop was built by a person who takes pride in their craft.

Protect Your Investment

Our board butter is a great way to keep your cutting board in great condition for years; and is also 100% food-safe.

Easy to Maintain

Proper maintenance is crucial for the longevity of any cutting board. Our boards are relatively easy to clean and maintain. Regular oiling with food-grade mineral oil helps nourish the wood and protect it from moisture, preventing cracks and warping. This low-maintenance aspect makes edge grain cutting boards a practical choice for busy kitchens where convenience is paramount.
